EVLOS (Extended Visual Line Of Sight)
Skylark is now able to provide EVLOS (Extended Visual Line Of Sight) operations for survey work in collaboration with Sentinel Aviation. Each operation has to be reviewed case by case by the relevant authority the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) and if the paperwork is approved then extended operations can be used. As with all things there is a cost for the paperwork trail and approval.
As Skylark has carried out complex operations in airport airspace, has radio licence. Sentinel Aviation feel that CAA will take this experience into consideration when EVLOS applications are made to the CAA.
Extended Visual Line Of Sight (EVLOS) operations; relates to the operating method whereby the Remote Pilot in command (PIC) relies on one or more Remote Observers to keep the unmanned aircraft in visual sight at all times, relaying critical flight information via radio and assisting the Remote Pilot in maintaining safe separation from other aircraft [manned or unmanned].
EVLOS operations require more advanced flight-crew experience, coordination, communications and communications infrastructure. EVLOS flight operations must be approved by CAA.
Skylark Aerial Photography can make a recommendation to operate EVLOS deployments which would be beneficial in certain circumstances to aerial work such as aerial survey or mapping.
