Dales Museum Shoot. We recently completed another internal shoot for a stills photographers exhibition.
The shoot took place at the Dales Country Museum in Hawes North Yorkshire.
The exhibition in the round gallery, which is about the country life of a shepherdess in the Dales was finishing in September.
A small internal video was required to showcase the exhibition. A video on a hand held camera had been shot but was found to be not of high enough quality.
Having provided a number of aerial films for the same photographer over the last 2 years, we were approached again to help out.
The shoot required a drone to operate within the gallery to film the exhibits, models, shepherdess, gallery.
The shot was going to be for 30 minutes but in the end it was over 2 hours.
Dales Museum Shoot
A Mavic Pro 2 was used with prop guards.
Having shot a number of internal shoots with the Pro 2 we were not really phased. A bonus was a GPS lock in the gallery which allowed a safer operation.
The Mavic provided an excellent camera platform with very stable operation.
What would normally require a jib, expensive gimbal mounted system or camera rails were not required.
The Mavic was able to carry out a walk round tour, overfly the models looking at gallery stills, and a 180 around an exhibit.
By shooting at 120fps and using the tripod mode a very stable shoot was provided.
Material was shot in 1080HD and normal colour. Exposure set for the light levels.
You will notice that film looks as though its 3D.
A tough and tender portrait of a ‘true-to-life’, born and bred shepherdess.
In a special corner of the Yorkshire Dales, there is deep gratitude and spiritual fulfilment to be found in the essential work of a Shepherdess. Documented in heartfelt photographs and personal words, this new work portrays the growing intimacy between a woman, her flock and her love affair with life on a small tenanted hill farm, and the intractable realities of this traditional existence. A Shepherdess having to make it pay the hard way. No windfalls, just twenty years of graft and determination. One of the last little hill-farms still clinging on. Ground yourself in a little reality and experience it before it’s gone.
