Skylark Aerial Photography has been operating for 12 months as a commercial drone service in the Lake District. It’s been a very varied year from still photography of property, video shoots for hotels, tourist attractions, BBC, ITV, France2 news and documentary programmes, sporting events, digital marketing to survey and inspections. We also offered our services free for some worthwhile causes. I’m please to say this will also be part of our offering this year.
Over the Christmas period Skylark carried out a 300 acre survey of woodland for Scottish Woodlands and by early January had completed car shoot (Mercedes) and a piece for Bloomberg Newsroom.
Skylark Aerial Photography will be investing in new technology from spring this year. Camera systems will be significantly upgraded to an industry standard Panasonic GH4, and a medium lift Heaxcopter to lift this. A hand held stabilised gimbal will also be purchased to allow ground and internal shots to be edited into drone footage. Later in the year a thermal imaging camera will be added to the offering. It is hoped this may be used for identifying areas of thermal loss in buildings, or inefficient drives or overheating drives, transformers, electrical systems. Skylark has been approached by an emergency service provider in Cumbria about using drones to locate missing persons and this would prove invaluable.
Again, thank you to all Skylarks customers over the last 12 months.
