Lake District ITV Shoot calls upon the services of Skylark Aerial Photography twice in one week. From what started out as a planned property shoot in the North West Lakes turned out to be a busy day for Skylark Aerial Photography. During the visit to the property, ITV Borders contacted us to request a drone shoot in Seathwaite, Borrowdale, Lake District to film the dry river bed of the River Derwent Water to emphasise the low water levels being experienced. Skylark Aerial Photography always carries at least one drone at all times, on this occasion two drones were available with multiple battery packs and lenses. One of the drones was the latest DJI Mavic which has already earn its keep since been added to the inventory.
On arrival and meeting the ITV crew it was decided what shots should be provided. Because we have provided drone services to ITV on a number of occasions the crew and presenter were very happy for Skylark Aerial Photography to advise on the shot list. A number of shots were decided upon, GV’s of the Borrowdale Valley, footage of the dry river bed, filming a a couple who were walking in the area as they crossed a bridge over the river bed. This bridge became the main focal point for the shoot. A low shoot along the river bed and under the low bridge. Lastly the piece to camera (PTC) which required 4 takes at different positions and angles.
The footage was used that evening on ITV Borders to highlight the dry conditions in the Lake District. Ten seconds was then used on ITN News at Ten as the leader into a story about the dry conditions in the UK as a whole.
Following this successful shoot Skylark Aerial Photography was called upon the next day by ITV News Desk in London to be at Coniston Water 7:30am on the Wednesday of that same week. Unfortunately Skylark Aerial Photography was not available due to a film shoot in Yorkshire that day. However we were able to recommend another drone operator based at Barrow to assist us. We were able to discuss the shoot requirements with this operator as to what was required. We then contacted ITV and passed on the operators details.
